Happy Thanksgiving!

1 Chronicles 29:11-13

"Yours, O LORD, is the greatness and the power
and the glory and the majesty and the splendor,
for everything in heaven and earth is yours.
Yours, O LORD, is the kingdom;
you are exalted as head over all.

Wealth and honor come from you;
you are the ruler of all things.
In your hands are strength and power
to exalt and give strength to all.

Now, our God, we give you thanks,
and praise your glorious name."

The testimony of Daniel

I know it has been a long time since I last posted, and I’m sorry. But I don’t know about everyone else, but I have had a really hard time with keeping consistent devotions and a steady walk with the lord. It hasn’t been that just one thing got in the way of it but more like a lot of different things combined really mess up my mornings. But needless to say when I have had my devotions I have been reading through the book of Daniel, and I have really been encouraged by his testimony. How when he was my age he was led into captivity and put under much more severe circumstances than I am in, how he kept his testimony and out shone all other young men. How he had the faith to not obey what the king commanded, the peace that he had in the lions den, and many other seemingly small areas that made him stand out like a bright light. I have been in a sort of awe of him as I am reading about him. So like I said I have had a pretty good fight with the devil and he is starting to beat me down farther than before, so if you could pray for me it would be most appreciated.
Love in christ,
Erik

Proverbs 9:8

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee.

1: Your not supposed to correct a scorner (someone who basically thinks your worthless, as well as what your saying), because he isn't going to listen to you, and he is just going to hate you more, he knows what he's doing is wrong, God has to change his heart.

2. Are you the scorner, or the wise man?

Jordan

Scorn means: Contempt or disdain felt toward a person or object considered despicable or unworthy.

surrounds me

When I'm down I look around at all that surrounds me.
And when I look I can see that Your with me lord

Jesus Your my Lord and King let Your love surround me. In the works of Your
hands I see that Your love surrounds me. Glory to my God and King who's
praise I'll always sing

When I fail and I sail away from Your will Lord. When I stray I can pray and
You show me Your way again

Jesus Your my Lord and King let Your love surround me. In the works of Your
hands I see that Your love surrounds me. Glory to my God and King who's
praise I'll always sing

Well that's it short and sweet. Feel free to tell my what you think. I take criticism well but I might cry just a little lol J/K

Psalms 145:7- "They shall abundantly utter the memory of Thy great goodness"

Sometimes it is good for us to look back over our lives in the past days, weeks, months and even years and remember how the Lord has worked and to remember how much He deserves our praise. I've listed a couple of things that I am thankful for and feel free to comment and list a couple of things that you're grateful for as well.

I'm thankful for-

1. Christian camps- God has used camp in my life in a great way. Without them I know for certain that I wouldn't be enjoying the blessings of my relationship with Him. Both the Wilds and Servants Heart camps have been God's way of getting a hold of my heart.

2. Changing Seasons- Maybe I'm being overly dramatic but can you seriously imagine what life would be like if it was always winter around here? I could go for a little more Fall, but even so, after a while I think it would grow rather old. Or even worse...can you imagine if everything was brown and white? Even the changing seasons shows God's creativity and care for us.

3. Answered Prayers- Its so neat to see God answer a specific prayer and know that He has heard your special cry. Sometimes it can be something as small as trying to find your glasses (the hardest thing to find is your glasses, without your glasses! ;) or to something as major as allowing my sister, Renee, and her husband, Jon, to have children. God doesn't always nescesarily answer the way we wanted but He still answers each request with our best interest at heart.

4. God's Forgiveness- Over and over and over I fail God and yet He never tires of trying to draw me back to Himself and to show me that His grace is sufficient. He died on the cross, knowing full well that I'd continue to fall. His mercy is amazing. Psalms 145:14- "The Lord upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down."

5. The Bible- Specifically I'm thankful for Romans and Psalms. Two books which have been a huge encouragement to me. (Romans- because Paul asks the most basic questions and then proceeds to give the answer. Psalms- because David shares his struggles and then continues on to turn the focus to God.)

6. Free Salvation- "Complete in Thee, NO work of mine, can take dear Lord, the place of Thine. Thy blood hath pardon bought for me, and I shall stand complete in Thee!"

7- The Promise that Someday He's Coming Back for Me!- The more that I learn about God, and the more that I struggle with this flesh and the more that I see the sin and death of this world, the more I understand the words to that song "This world is not my Home, I'm just a passing through!" I can't wait for the day when I'll get to see Him face to face, put my arms around Him and tell Him in person how grateful I am for His love.

Psalms 145:2-"Every day will I bless Thee and I will praise Thy name forever and ever"

Awareness

Be spiritually aware. In Madden, (A football game) you want to have good awareness. And want to build your attributes up. In our spiritual life you need to build up your awareness by sorting out where, and when, and who you are tempted by. Be aware of Satan's tactics.

Jordan

spoken from my heart...

I wanted to write from my heart this time instead of writing up a post that sounds like I am so spiritual and makes me look smart. (If either of those are even attainable... ;) I want to seriously thank all of you out there that have made a difference in my walk with God. Some of you may not even realize the example you have set for me and others. But, let me say I have never been more thankful for such Godly friends! I don't how I would ever be able to continue continuing on without you. Standing up for what you believe alone isn't easy, so thank God I don't have to! And, the more time I have to ground myself in the Bible and set my standards now, the easier it will be to keep those when I am out on my own. But, even though I am extremely grateful for you all, I also want to encourage you to not give up. We need to continue to support each other! Don't lose sight of what's important!!! Christ is all that matters, and we must never forget that! You cannot love both God and the World. So many times I feel myself standing in the "middle", but we all know that there is no "middle" We are either serving God or man. Satan is sooo real and he is soooo ready to strike and he uses those times to get us where we are weak... don't give him the time or place to do that! We are to resist the Devil, and so many times we let him have places in our hearts. Even if we are saved by Christ's Blood, Satan still wants to ruin The Christian name. He wants our reputation to be nothing but dust! Don't let those "little" things slip!!!! In God's sight nothing is "little!" Think about how many times we disappoint God! Think for a minute about someone you know whose heart is broken by the way Satan has gotten ahold of their loved one. And then think about God. He is the one we are directly disobeying!! And God loves us more than is humanly possible. When we give the Devil the slightest part of our heart we must grieve the heart of God so badly! So, stay on your knees, because I hardly think Satan will try to attack you when you are in the presence of God! Stay in His word, because the Word is our Weapon!

Love you all so much!
Rachel

We Have Forgotten

"We have been the recipients of the choicest bounties of heaven. We have been preserved, the many years, in peace and prosperity. We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power, as no other nation has ever grown. But we have forgotten God.

We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us; and we have vainly imagined, in the deceitfulness of our hearts, that all these blessings were produced by some superior wisdom and virtue of our own. Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self-sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to God that made us!"

Amen

Under His Control

Lately God has been emphasizing to me the importance of sharing His Word, and the truths it holds about Him, with others. Maybe its because the number of lost souls isn't growing smaller, maybe its because He's recently put me among unsaved co-workers, maybe its to teach me to rely on Him more as He calls me to step out of my "Comfort Zone", or maybe its simply because He desires to draw men to Himself. Whatever the reason may be, its something I can't ignore. Especially when God keeps reminding of His calling every time I turn around. First through the Missions Conference, then through several songs He brought me to listen to, then in some messages I've listened to online, then in a book I have been reading recently, then in some conversations with several seasoned saints and finally tonight in Pastor Walters message! When God wants us to learn something He keeps bringing it before us until He's sure we got the point! ;)

I guess the reason I'm telling you this is because I want you all to pray for me about it. I know, I know...we all say that we need to witness more and that we want to be more effective for Christ etc. That's great. But I'm getting sick of saying that and then proceeding to...doing nothing! I want to be making a difference in the areas that God has placed me in! God has really been causing me to see the needy people around me and its sort of hard to ignore His prodding when everywhere you look you see someone who will spend an ETERNITY in one of two places. Heaven or Hell. I'd especially appreciate your directed prayers for someone that God has specifically been telling me to talk/give a tract to and well...I've been chickening out and need your help through prayer. (And just for the record...I still don't understand how come I get scared to share the greatest rescue plan with someone who will surely face his doom without it!)

God has been trying to show me that He has placed us here on earth for two reasons. 1. To Glorify Him. 2. To bring men to Him. Most of the time when I do a check-list on how I'm doing in those two areas, I...umm...well...lets just say...I think I've humbled myself enough for one blog post and don't need to keep sharing my faults. Seriously though...Whats the point of keeping up your relationship with God if you aren't accomplishing anything for Him? Did He come to earth, live here, endure temptations, suffer on the cross, go through complete and utter separation from His own Father, finally die and rise again so that we could be saved and then proceed to live our lives the way we want and according to our own agenda? No of course not. And I think most of know that. Ok...so my next question is "What does He want? Does He want us to come to the knowledge of Him and then continue to be in His Word, continue to confess our faults, continue to get back up and continue to be in communion with Him?" YES!!! He does. But I believe there is more to it. What good is our relationship with God if all we're doing is keeping the joy, peace and fulfillment, that God gives us, as a secret all to ourselves? One of God's main purposes for keeping us here on earth after our salvation is to be sharing Him, and what He has done for us, with others. Psalm 64:9 "And all men shall fear and shall declare the work of God; for they shall wisely consider of His doing."

I mentioned earlier a book that I have been reading and I want to share some things from it with you. (BTW- I'd HIGHLY recommend this book and if you're interested in finding more out about it, just let me know.) Anyways, the author was really stressing the important role that the Holy Spirit has in our lives 1. The Holy Spirit enables us to fulfill Gods commandments 2. The Holy Spirit gives us specific power to be His witnesses 3. The Holy Spirit leads us to prepared hearts. "Because we are weak, sinful creatures, we are totally inadequate for the assignment of the Great Commission. Yet God, through the Holy Spirit, makes us adequate. The willingness to obey, the ability to obey and the fruit of the obedience are the products of the Holy Spirit. It is my conviction that any Christian who truly is Spirit filled will have a desire to see men and women come to know Christ. They won't be able to help it. Since the Holy Spirit came to glorify Christ and to guide us into all truth, it is fair to conclude that He will glorify Christ by using us to introduce others to Him. The Holy Spirit gives us both the desire and burden for those without Christ. That's why a prepared, yielded heart is the first step in effective evangelism. Simply attending an evangelism seminar or workshop will not make you a more fruitful witness for Christ. Granted, you'll be more knowledgeable, but we need supernatural assistance to be both obedient and fruitful. The Holy Spirit will only guide submissive Christians. If we are determined to do Gods work in our own strength we can expect our results and not Gods. Before we seek to act on Christs behalf we must first be sure that we are surrendered to the control of the Holy Spirit" The author then pointed out the passage in Acts 1:4,8 "Vrs 4-And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me. Vrs 8-But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." The author goes on to point out that Jesus commanded His followers not to leave Jerusalem but to wait there for the Holy Spirit to come into their lives. In other words, it would have been futile for them to even attempt to represent the interests of their Lord and Savior without the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit"

Ok...so I got the message that the Holy Spirit plays a vital role in witnessing, but I, in my natural rebellion, was still trying to excuse myself from what God was asking me to do. I was telling God that I wasn't exactly gifted at witnessing because I'm not really the outgoing type (that may surprise some of you who know me to be rather talkative, but I really do have a hard time going up to people that I don't know and striking up a converstaion. Mrs. Huber does an excellent job at acting like she has known a person all her life and that just amazes me) Well, that rather pitiful excuse of mine went out the window when I read what the author had to say next. "The early saints of the church were not effective in evangelism because of their outgoing, gregarious personalities. Some of us make the tragic error of communicating, indirectly or directly, that only outgoing people can be effective in initiative evangelism. That is NOT true. The Holy Spirit is not held hostage to working through certain personality types. Bold witness is the result of the filling of the Holy Spirit. Every Christian who has the responsibility to share Christ, and we all do, also has the power available to do it! That's why it is so important to begin each day by asking God in prayer to lead you to those He wants you to talk to about Christ. Then expect God to do just that!"

Theres no way around it. Theres not a single one of us that is exempt from His calling. God has placed each of us in specific areas, with specific people to tell them specifically about Him. But..."Until we recognize the importance of the gospel, evangelism will just be a duty to us-(Pastor Walters)" And that's what I want you all to pray for me about. Pray that as the Lord convicts me to share Him with others, I will see Him hanging there on the cross, with His side torn and bleeding and a crown of thorns on His head. Pray that I will see His nail pierced hands and feet and feel the agony of my Savior as He took on the sins of the world. Pray that I will remember the Calvary scene and how, with His incredible love that I will never truly understand, He asked His Father to forgive His murderers and saved the man dying by His side. Pray that I will remember how He took a deep breath and then cried, "It is Finished!" and it truly was. He paid such a great price for me, how can I think that sharing what He has done for me is just a duty? Its a privilege...one that I don't deserve.

"I have received my all from God. Oh, that I could return my all to God." (David Brainerd)

Thanks for praying,
Chrystal
